United States presidential election in Massachusetts, 2008
(詳細はD.C., as part of the 2008 United States presidential election. Voters chose 12 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President.
Massachusetts was won by Democrat nominee Barack Obama by a 25.8% margin of victory slightly larger than when John Kerry won his home state with a 25.2% margin. Prior to the election, all 17 news organizations considered this a state Obama would win, or otherwise considered as a safe blue state. No Republican presidential nominee has won a single county in the state nor obtained over 40% of the vote since 1988.〔(Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections )〕〔()()〕 In 2008, Democrat Barack Obama captured the state's 12 electoral votes winning 61.80% of the popular vote to Republican John McCain's 35.99%.
